Head Start & Child Development programs provide educational & social activities, nutritious meals and snacks and medical & dental benefits for low-income children ages three to five. 
Early Head Start provides similar services for children birth to three. 
The Birth Through Three Program/Parents as Teachers provides parent educators who provide in home services for children from birth through three years of age. 
Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is available to child care providers. 
Energy Assistance Program helps low-income households pay a portion of their heating costs. 
The Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC) provides medical and nutritional assessments, education and supplemental foods for pregnant women, breast feeding and non-nursing mothers, infants and children up to 5 years old. 
Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) Family Development Specialists work with participants to help them overcome obstacles while working toward self-sufficiency. 
Weatherization helps homeowners and renters decrease their energy costs by inspecting and cleaning furnaces and insulating homes. 
MAP is our Medication Assistance Program which helps people with chronic conditions attain their prescription meds at no cost if they don't have insurance to pay for them. 
SHARE stands for Self-Help and Resource Exchange. It is a national network of non-profit organizations dedicated to providing quality monthly food packages at a reduced cost. Some programs have income guidelines

The Nest of Des Moines County is a Parent Education Program for prenatal and parents (male or female). Nest participants must be pregnant or have a child 5 years old or younger. They are are encouraged to bring a Support Person with them to the Nest Classes. Those enrolled in the Nest Family Support Program receive points for attending Nest classes; which are then redeemed for "New Store Incentive Items" at the Nest in Burlington. All must call, the Burlington Nest, to make an appointment to register.

Stroke Support Group

Stroke survivors and/or caregivers are welcome to attend. Different speaker every month with time to share/support others if interested.

This organization provides the following: safe shelter for women and children, 24 -hour crisis line, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, court advocacy support, protection orders, domestic violence support group, sexual assault support group, children's support group, etc.
