Low Income Housing, Autumn Heights offers various sizes of apartments: We offer a smaller one-bedroom apartment or a larger one-bedroom apartment designed for one person occupancy. We also offer an enlarged one-bedroom apartment designed for one or two person occupancy.  Two-bedroom apartments are also available for two person occupancy. Eligible applicants are persons who are age 62 and older or disabled or handicapped as defined by the Social Security Act.

Milestones Area Agency on Aging, Elder Rights Program focuses on the prevention, intervention and reporting of Elder Abuse against individuals age 60 and up. Empowering older Iowans to sustain their own independence. Offering a responsive system that accepts all referrals concerning elder abuse, neglect or exploitation. Collaborating with community providers concerned for the safety and well-being of older people. Assuring that older individuals have access to community supports and services. Educate individuals on their right to be free of violence and exploitation while providing solution focused options to increase safety.

LifeLong Links is a statewide resource that helps older Iowans, Individuals with disabilities, veterans and their caregivers plan for long-term independent living. LifeLong Links gives you access to: housing, healthcare, transportation, employment, mental health, respite, food/nutrition, education, financial assistance, and adaptive equipment to mention a few.

Senior Nutrition Centers offer daily nutritious meals served in a social congregate dining center or delivered to the home for Iowans age 60 and over. Individual nutrition counseling is also available. Menus are posted online. Meals are funded in part by the Older Americans Act and by voluntary contributions from participants.

This program provides transportation for adults of any age to medical appointments Johnson, Des Moines, Muscatine, and Iowa Counties. The volunteer driver will pick you up, may accompany you into the appointment, or wait outside, and then return you home. Request for transportation should be made as early as possible, 5-7 days prior to the appointment, to ensure availability of the driver. This is a FREE service but we do accept donations. NO SMOKING is allowed during transport, please do not give cash or gifts to your drivers.

Provides monetary relief to indigent veterans to assist with bills pertaining to rent, utilities, clothing, medical treatment, food and funerals. We also assist veterans with applying for any type of government pension or compensation they might be eligible for. Help them get to Iowa Veterans Home, help them secure any type of military records they might need, help with getting head stones, travel to Iowa Vets Hospital, home loans, education benefits, getting into nursing homes, etc.

The Iowa City Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System is a comprehensive tertiary health care center, teaching hospital, and research facility. Referrals are accepted from VA Medical Centers throughout the nation for complex diagnostic and treatment modalities. The Iowa City facility is known for a wide range of specialized medical programs. It has a strong and effective affiliation with the University of Iowa College of Medicine. The Medical Center operates 83 beds, including 43 medicine/neurology beds, 25 surgery, and 10 intensive care beds, and 15 psychiatry beds. The Medical Center operates seven community based outpatient clinics in Bettendorf, Waterloo, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, and Ottumwa, Iowa; and Galesburg and Quincy, Illinois. The Medical Center also operates a satelite outpatient clinic in Coralville, Iowa.
