  • Ancestry Library Edition
    Indexing and images of all the U.S. census records. Thousands of other databases indexing vital record, immigration, military, and other records useful to genealogists. This resource can only be used at the library. You can subscribe to a similar product for home use at Ancestry.com.
  • Family Search
    Free site operated by the LDS Church. Includes every name census index for 1880 US, 1881 British, and 1881 Canadian census records. Ancestral File and Pedigree Resource File are databases of submitted family research. IGI is a database created from abstracting records found at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. You can search this library's catalog.
  • Heritage Quest Online
    Burlington Public Library has a subscription which allows card holders to access this resource. Includes full-text local histories and genealogies as well as census indexes and images. Tips for using Heritage Quest Online.
  • Rootsweb
    Best known for its mailing lists and message boards.
  • Social Security Death Index
    Deaths since the late 1960s. Not everyone will be included, but many are. Provides date and place of death. Search by name.
  • USGenWeb
    Links to state and county sites maintained by volunteers. Content varies, but a good starting point when researching in a particular location. Can also go beyond the U.S. with WorldGenWeb.
