The Burlington Public Library Friends Foundation is a 501-C-3 organization established in 1982 to enhance the services and use of the Burlington Public Library.
The Foundation is currently participating with a citizen's committee to raise funds for a new library facility now open at 210 Court Street on the south side of U.S. Highway 34. The Library Foundation itself was a major donor to the fund drive for this beautiful new facility. Donations to the Foundation for the on-going enrichment of library projects and programs are tax-deductible as the law allows.
A special bequest from Dr. Rudy and Kay Buescher provides poinsettias annually in December.
In the past, major grants from the Library Foundation have also funded the equipment purchased for the library's computerized catalog and check-out system, the web-server, a tower for CD-ROM reference products, and computer workstations for Internet access. Smaller grants have supplied globes, shelving, materials, and specialized training for staff members.
If you are interested in including the Library Foundation in your estate planning, a library staff member can provide additional information.
