Bring your digital camera with a usb cable and/or flash drive with pictures saved on it with you. Lois Blythe will show you how to download pictures from your camera or other storage device.  She will also show you how to copy & paste information from various sources. You will need to know how to open files, highlight information, and use a mouse or touchpad.

Have you heard about Facebook but don't really know what it is?  This is the class for you.  You will be introduced to the concept of social networking.  You will also be able to set-up a free Facebook account.

 

E-Mail Basics:  Setting-Up a Hotmail Account

You will be guided through the process of setting up a free Hotmail e-mail account. You will learn how to access your account and how to view, create, send, open, and delete e-mail from your account. You need to be comfortable using a mouse to open programs or links.

If you have an email account already, then join this class to learn how  to create attachments, forward e-mails, add a signature, and more.  A Gmail account will be used as the example in class.   You will need to access your e-mail account, so you will need to know your login and password.  You need to be comfortable using a mouse to open programs or links.

 

 

 

Internet Basics

2 - 4 p.m., Meeting Room B

In this class, you will use Internet Explorer to surf the Web.  You will learn how to identify and enter a web address.  You will learn to use search strategies to find information on the Internet.  Basic internet safety will also be discussed.   Participants need to be comfortable using a mouse and keyboard.

Bring your Ipod or MP3 player and your Burlington Public Library library card with you to class.  You will learn how to access and download books from the Wilbor site.  Participants need to be comfortable using a mouse and keyboard.

 

Microsoft Office Excel 2003:  The Basics

Microsoft Excel is a program that allows you to organize information in rows and tables (which create cells), with the added bonus of automatic mathematics.  You can also create graphs and charts from numeric data. Participants need to be comfortable using a mouse and keyboard.

You will learn about a basic PC keyboard and then you will be guided through a keyboarding tutorial that you can obtain off the web for free.

Using Tutor.com's resources and templates, you will learn how to create a resume cover letter.  If you have a job listing in mind, please bring that information with you.  Participants need to be comfortable using a mouse and keyboard.

You will learn about web sites that will assist you in searching for employment.
