LCHD provides Maternal & Child Health Programming in Des Moines County. Maternal Health includes nursing, social work and preventive oral health services. Child Health/Care for Kids includes explaining benefits of preventative medical & dental care, recommended schedules for exams, screenings and immunizations and providing both direct services such as developmental screens and enabling services such as referrals to providers. I-Smile helps families access dental care and provides preventive oral health services, including oral screenings, fluoride varnish applications and school-based dental sealants. LCHD can also approve presumptive Medicaid/Title XIX and facilitates hawk-i medical insurance coverage, which has higher family income guidelines and can provide dental-only coverage if needed. Income and other guidelines vary by program. harge and sliding- fee scale depending on family income.
