Help Desk  
Library users can consult the staff at the Help Desk for help to find information, clarify needs and determine which sources you will need.

The Help Desk staff can be contacted in-house or by phone during library business hours, through the Help Desk email or on  the library's various social networks. 

Online Resources
The library offers several online resources and databases on a variety of topics that can be accessed with your library card.
Ancestry (Library Edition
Provides access to over 4,000 databases including US Census, military records, court, land, and probate records; vital and church records; directories; passenger lists and more. In-library use only. 

Magazine Articles that you can search and read online. Includes Consumer Reports, medical and business journals, and so much more. Burlington Public Library card required if using outside of the library. Partially funded by the State Library of Iowa. 
Heritage Quest (Library Edition) 
Includes full text local histories and genealogies, census images and indexing, PERSI (an index to genealogy periodicals), and Revolutionary War Pension Records. In-library use only. Click here to use Heritage Quest remotely with your library card.

New England Ancestors 
Research multiple databases provided by the New England Historic Genealogical Society. Includes searchable full-text of the New England Historic Genealogical Society Register. In-library use only. 
Newspaper Archives 
Search historical issues of the Burlington Hawk Eye and other newspapers around the globe. In-library use only. 
NoveList Plus 
A fiction lover’s resource for information on titles and series and for finding books similar to your favorite titles and authors. Burlington Public Library card required if using outside of the library. 
Enables you to search library catalogs from around the world. If BPL doesn't have enough on the subject you need, find out what more is available and talk to a staff member about how to get a copy.
